Our Initiatives

Water Is Life...
Having safe water is often taken for granted. Many of our local communities are still drawing water from streams and swamps. CCR, together with our facilitating partner, helps these communities obtain safe water by installing wells and hand pumps. Communities participate as we explain, “you wash your belly, we’ll wash your back.” This includes hands-on instruction in pump repair. Pictured is Pastor Amos, owner and head of guest relations, demonstrating proper pump repair.
Mama Liberia Products was born out of a desire to equip and empower members of our local communities with skills using resources readily found in the bush, but that require training and encouragement. On CCR’s property, we have trained men and women in beekeeping and producing bee byproducts.

Bee Byproducts
One of our more popular workshops, especially with women, is cream making. Using beeswax and other natural ingredients, attendees learn to make skin cream, hair cream, and even cream for sore muscles.

Be it ever so humble...
This modest two-door structure is the beginning of an initiative to empower local shopkeepers. On the left is a future “cold store.” On the right is a general store. Both will receive training and ongoing mentoring. These stores will also serve our CCR guests—especially campers who forget essentials!
